In WPCRL No. 1042 of 2008 Hon’ble P.C. Verma, J.Hon’ble Sudhanshu Dhulia, J.

Mr. Jagdish Singh Bisht, learned counsel for the petitioners.

Mr. Nandan Arya, learned A.G.A. for the respondents.

By means of this writ petition, the petitioner has prayed to issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus commanding the respondents to provide police protection to the petitioners against the threat being given by their family members.

The petitioners have a remedy before the State Government on the administrative side, therefore, we are not inclined to entertain the petition. However, it is open for the petitioners to approach the State Government if any action is due on the part of the police agency. On failure on the part of the State Government in taking any step regarding protection of the life and liberty of the petitioners, the petitioners may approach this Court. The petition is dismissed on the ground of alternative remedy.
