The petitioners have approached this Court seeking protectionof their life and liberty on the premise that petitioner No.1 has pertormedmarriage with petitioner No.2 against the wishes of her parents and otherfamily members and the petitioners are apprehending threat to their life andliberty at their instance.
Notice of motion.
On asking of the Court, Mr. A.P.S. Gill, AAG, Punjab acceptsnotice on behalf of the respondent-State.
Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that arepresentation dated 29.12.2018 was made to the Senior Superintendent ofPolice, Fatehgarh Sahib (Annexure P-4) seeking necessary protection but noaction has been taken so far in the matter.
Heard.
Without examining the question of validity or otherwise ofmarriage of the petitioners, the present petition stands disposed of with adirection to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Fatehgarh Sahib to lookinto grievance of the petitioners expressed in the representation (AnnexureP-4) and take appropriate action, if any, warranted in the circumstances.
The Senior Superintendent of Police, Fatehgarh Sahib is furtherdirected to arrange a meeting of respondent No.4 with petitioner No.1 incase any such application is moved.
It is made clear that in case any FIR is registered againstpetitioner No.2, it will be open for the police authorities to take action, inaccordance with law.
