1. This petition, purportedly in public interest, has been filed by the petitioner seeking a direction to the respondents to provide for more polling booths for undertaking the elections for the local bodies.
2. Submissions have been made that while sufficient polling booths are being provided by the respondents during the Parliamentary and Assembly Elections, for the local Bodies, sufficient Polling Booths have not been provided.
3. Counsel for the respondents, on instructions submits that the petition at this stage is pre-mature as Special Intensive Review (SIR) of the electoral rolls is in process wherein the provisional electoral rolls have already been issued and once the finalization takes place based on the number of electors, the number of polling booths would be decided.
4. In view of the above fact situation, no case for entertaining the PIL at this stage, is made out, the same is therefore disposed of. It is expected of the respondents to take care of the grievance as raised while deciding the number of polling booths at the relevant time.
