The Court made the following ORDER:

The present Criminal Petition is filed by all the seven Accused, under Section 482 Cr.P.C., seeking to quash the proceedings in FIR.No.43 of 2019 of Kalikiri Police Station, Chittoor District. The offences alleged are Section 498-A r/w 34 IPC and Sections 3 & 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961.

2. As all the offences are punishable with less than seven years of imprisonment, this Criminal Petition is disposed of directing the Police to follow the procedure prescribed under Section 35 Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 and also the guidelines prescribed in Arnesh Kumar vs. State of Bihar1.
