And In the matter of : Ajay Kumar Shahni

……Petitioner. Mr. Abhijit Singh

.....for the Petitioner. Mr. Vipul Kundalia, Sr. Adv, Mr. Kaustuv Kanti Maiti

……for the Air Customs Authority

Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that petitioner was intercepted at the Airport with 2476 grams of ganja and arrested on 03.06.2026. Learned advocate appearing for the Air Customs Authority opposes the prayer for bail. It has been submitted that complaint has already been submitted before the jurisdictional Court. Having considered that complaint has already been submitted and the quantum of recovery is of intermediate quantity applying the principle in the judgment of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Barnali Bag –Vs. – Union of India [Special Leave Petition (Crl.) No. 3641/2026], I am inclined to release the petitioner on bail. Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is allowed. As such, the petitioner, namely, Ajay Kumar Shahni shall be released on bail upon furnishing bond of Rs.20,000/- (Rupees

Twenty Thousand only) with two sureties of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only) each, one of whom must be local to the satisfaction of the learned Judge, Special Court (under NDPS Act), 8th Court, Barasat, North 24 Parganas.
