In the matter of : Pankaj Mandal @ Pankaj Kumar Mandal

… Petitioner(s)

Mr. Md. Abu Safdar

… for the Petitioner(s) Mr. Pawan Kr. Gupta

… for the State-respondent(s)

The petitioner is in custody for five years four months. However, the report tendered by the State do not reflect the present status of the case before the learned trial court. The report also speaks that out of the 22 witnesses cited by the prosecution only 11 witnesses till date have been examined. Having considered that the petitioner is in custody for more than five years four months, as a matter of last chance, State is directed to complete rest of the witnesses by 31st January, 2027 and/or, in the alternative, the learned trial court would release the petitioner on bail after the aforesaid time period is over. With the aforesaid observations, CRM (M) 1161 of 2026 is disposed of.
