In the matter of : Sukuru Das @ Chingri @ Sukuru

… Petitioner(s)

Mr. Suman De Mr. Abhinaba Mukherjee

… for the Petitioner(s)

Ms. Priti Kar Bagchi

… for the State-respondent(s)

Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that the petitioner was arrested on 23.02.2025 and since then he is in custody. Learned advocate also submits that out of the 18 witnesses cited in the charge-sheet, only one witness has been examined till date, as such, there is no possibility of the trial being concluded very soon. Learned advocate prays that the petitioner may be released on bail. Learned advocate for the State has produced the case diary. I have taken into account the statement of the victim as well as the medico-legal examination report. Having considered the same, I am of the opinion that this is not a fit case for granting bail to the present petitioner.

2 Hence, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is Rejected. Accordingly, CRM (M) 1883 of 2026 is dismissed. Pending application(s), if any, is also disposed of. Memo of evidence submitted be kept with the record. Parties to act on a server copy of this order duly collected from the official website of the Hon’ble High Court, Calcutta. Urgent Photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties subject to compliance with all requisite formalities.
