OD-9 IN THE HIGH COURT AT CALCUTTA TESTAMENTARY AND INTESTATE JURISDICTION ORIGINAL SIDE PLA/289/2025 IN THE GOODS OF: SUKUMAR CHAKRABORTY, DECEASED BEFORE: The Hon’ble JUSTICE PARTHA SARATHI CHATTERJEE Date: 13th October, 2026. Appearance: Mr. R. Hossain, Adv. …for the petitioner. The Court :- This is an application for grant of letters of administration in respect of the property and estate left behind by Sukumar Chakraborty, since deceased. Mr. Hossain, learned Advocate appearing for the petitioner, submits that Sukumar Chakraborty died leaving behind him only one legal heir, namely, the petitioner herein. He submits that Sukumar Chakraborty died on 13th October, 2006. He, accordingly, prays for grant of letters of administration in respect of the property and estate left behind by Sukumar Chakraborty. Having heard the learned Advocate appearing for the petitioner and upon perusing the materials on record, including the death certificate of Sukumar Chakraborty and the Affidavit of Assets, I do not find any impediment in allowing the prayer of the petitioner. Accordingly, the Department is directed to issue letters of administration to the petitioner in respect of the property and credits of the deceased throughout the Union of India, subject to the petitioner furnishing a
2 personal bond of Rs. 5 lakhs, being an amount equivalent to 10% of the value of the property detailed in the Affidavit of Assets, with one surety. PLA/289/2025 is disposed of. (PARTHA SARATHI CHATTERJEE, J.) SK
