his association with the ‘Hasim Baba Gang’ and that members of the ‘Cheenu Gang’, who are lodged at CJ-10, Rohini, may pose a threat to his life. The Petitioner further relies upon an incident in which an inmate was allegedly killed in CJ-10 by members of the Cheenu Gang to substantiate his apprehension.
3. Having considered the submissions, this Court is of the view that no interference with the transfer order is warranted, particularly since the order has already been implemented and forms part of a routine exercise involving the transfer of 206 prisoners between different jails. However, the apprehension expressed by the Petitioner, having regard to the nature of the allegations, warrants examination by the Respondents. Accordingly, the Respondents are directed to examine the Petitioner’s apprehension in accordance with law and, if the same is found to have a genuine and credible basis, take appropriate measures in accordance with law. A decision in this regard shall be communicated to the Petitioner within ten days from today.
4. With the above directions, the present petition is disposed of. SANJEEV NARULA, J OCTOBER 13, 2026/hc This is a digitally signed order.
