1. The present petition has been filed seeking quashing of FIR No.55/2022 dated 18th January, 2022, registered at P.S. Mandir Marg, Delhi, for offence under Sections 406/498-A/354B/34 of IPC and all proceedings arising therefrom, on the basis of settlement.

2. Issue Notice.

3. Notice accepted on behalf of the APP appearing on behalf the State and the counsel appearing on behalf of the respondent no.2.

4. The petitioner no.1 is the husband of the respondent no.2 and the petitioners no. 2, 3, 4 and 5 are the family members of the petitioner no.1. The marriage of the petitioner no.1 and the respondent no.2 was solemnized on 24th April, 2012, as per Hindu rites and ceremonies. One child was born out of the wedlock.

5. Marital disputes arose between the petitioner no.1 and the respondent no.2, which resulted in filing of the present FIR on 18th January, 2022.

6. Now, the parties have settled their disputes in terms of the Mediation Settlement dated 30th May, 2026, executed before Delhi Mediation Centre, Patiala House Courts, which has been placed on record as Annexure P-1 to the petition. In terms of the settlement, the parties have resolved their disputes and the parties have started residing together.

7. The respondent no.2 is present in Court and has been identified by her counsel as well as by the Investigating Officer (‘I.O.’). She informs the Court that she has settled the matter of her own free will and without any coercion. She further states that she has no objection to quashing of the present FIR.

8. The petitioners are also present in Court and have been identified by their counsel. They affirm the statement of the respondent no.2 and undertake to abide by the terms of settlement arrived at between the parties.

9. Considering the above settlement between the parties, no useful purpose would be served by continuing with the proceedings of the present FIR and it would an unnecessary burden on the State exchequer. Hence, it would be in the interest of justice to quash the present FIR and the proceedings pursuant thereto.

10. It is directed that the settlement executed between the petitioner no.1 and respondent no.2, as well as this order, shall have no effect on the legal rights of the minor child in the future.

11. Consequently, the FIR No.55/2022 registered at P.S. Mandir Marg, Delhi, and the proceedings pursuant thereto are quashed.

12. The petition stands disposed of. AMIT BANSAL, J OCTOBER 7, 2026 ds
