1. This petition is filed to direct the respondents to unconditionally release a bag of 82 coins (73 silver coins and 9 copper coins) detained on 26.10.2023.

2. The brief facts are that the petitioner visited Singapore and purchased 82 coins for display in an exhibition in Shimla. The petitioner arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi on 25.10.2023 and chose the green channel. The bag containing 82 coins was seized and a detention receipt was issued on 26.10.2023. This is a digitally signed order. 3. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the grievance is that despite seizure in October, 2023, the respondents have failed to get valuation of coins detained.

4. During the pendency of the petition, the valuation was undertaken on the directions of this Court and the report dated 21.09.2026 is produced and is taken on record.

5. Learned counsel for the respondent upon instructions submits that the order in accordance with law shall be passed within two weeks from today after providing an opportunity of personal hearing to the petitioner.

6. In view of the above, the petition is hereby disposed of with the directions that the order in pursuance to show cause notice shall be passed within two weeks from today and a copy be communicated to the petitioner. In order to avoid any further delay, let the petitioner or an authorized representative appear before the respondent no. 1 on Friday i.e. 25.09.2026 at 11:00 A.M.

7. Needless to say, the petitioner would be at liberty to avail the remedy in accordance with law if he is aggrieved of the order and seek release of the coins as per the prescribed procedure.
