1. The present petition has been filed alleging wilful disobedience of the judgment dated 29th May, 2026 passed by the learned Division Bench in LPA No. 487/2025, wherein, directions were issued in the following manner: “xxx xxx xxx
19. In view of the above, the compensation payable to the Appellants under the pecuniary head is liable to be recomputed by taking the monthly income of Appellant No. 1 at Rs. ₹20,000/- and, thereafter, applying the factor of 1.5. The adjusted monthly income thus works out to ₹30,000/-. Upon deducting 50% towards personal expenses, the monthly contribution is assessed at ₹15,000/-. Applying the multiplier of 15, the compensation payable under the pecuniary head is quantified at ₹27,00,000/- and adding the standard compensation in the sum of ₹3,78,947/- to the pecuniary compensation, the total compensation payable to the Appellants stands re- assessed at ₹30,78,947/-
20. Insofar as the rate of interest is concerned, we do not find any ground warranting interference with the rate of 6% per annum awarded by the learned Single Judge, the same being consistent with the rate of interest awarded in similar cases. Accordingly, the enhanced compensation of ₹30,78,947/- shall carry simple interest at the rate of 6% per annum from the date of the incident, i.e., 20.07.2016, until the date of realisation.

2. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioners submits that the present contempt petition has been filed since the amount of the compensation in terms of the aforesaid judgment of the Division Bench has still not been released to the petitioner.
3. In response, learned counsel appearing for the respondent-Delhi Jal Board (“DJB”) submits that the amount of compensation payable to the petitioners has already been recomputed, and the same now amounts to Rs. 47,08,680.04/-.
4. He further submits that of the total recomputed amount, an amount of Rs. 33,84,865/- was deposited by the respondent-DJB by way of a Demand Draft on 14th May, 2025 with the Registrar General of this Court, and the balance amount of Rs. 14,29,140/- has now been deposited by way of a Bankers Cheque on 10th September, 2026.
5. Thus, he submits that the total compensation payable to the petitioners to the tune of Rs. 47,08,680/- stands deposited with the Registrar General of this Court.
6. Accordingly, it is directed that the amount so deposited by the respondent-DJB with the Registrar General of this Court shall be released henceforth to the petitioners, along with interest, if any, that has accrued on the same.
7. The petitioners or their Authorized Representative (“AR”)/lawyer, are directed to approach the Registry of this Court for the purposes of release of the aforesaid amount to the petitioners.
8. Upon the petitioners or their AR/lawyer approaching the Registry, the said amount shall be duly released to the petitioners.
9. Noting the aforesaid, the present petition is accordingly disposed of.
