ORDER

13.10. 2026

Heard Mr. R. Phukan, learned counsel for the petitioner. Also heard Mr. P. D. Nair, learned counsel appears for Respondents No. 1 to 4. Mr. P. D. Nair, learned counsel appearing for Respondents No. 1, 2, 3 and 4, on instructions submits that the writ petitioner had applied for both the posts of Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology. It is submitted that pursuant to the selection process undertaken, in neither of the posts the writ petitioner was found suitable and therefore not selected. Mr. P. D. Nair, learned counsel for the Respondents, on instructions, submits that for the post of Assistant Professor, the shortlisted candidates who were selected, pursuant towards appointment orders being granted they have already joined in their posts, and insofar as the selection process for the post of Associate Professor is concerned, no one was selected. Mr. R. Phukan, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, on the other hand, submits that as per the instructions received, for the post of Associate Professor, only one candidate was shortlisted, which was the petitioner. He, however, submits that in view of the instructions furnished by Mr. P. D. Nair, learned counsel for the Respondents, that the selection process has already been completed; he would like to take steps to challenge the selection process, if required. He seeks liberty to withdraw the present writ petition and file a fresh, if the need so arises. Prayer made is not objected to by the learned counsel for the Respondents. Accordingly, this writ petition stands closed as not pressed. Interim order(s), if any, stands vacated. Pending I.A(s), if any, are also dismissed.
