1. Petitioner, through the medium of this petition, has challenged Order No. DMS/PSA/39/2024 dated 18th of November, 2024 passed by Respondent No.2 while exercising powers under Section 8 of the J&K Public Safety Act, 1978, whereby the petitioner was directed to be lodged at Central Jail Jammu, with a view to prevent him from acting in any manner prejudicial to the maintenance of ‘public order’.

2. There is no representation on behalf of the petitioner. So was the case on last several dates of hearing.

3. The learned counsel for the respondent has drawn the attention of the Court to the fact that the impugned Order dated 18th of November, 2024 was executed on 21st of November, 2024 and since the same being issued for purpose of maintenance of public order, having maximum

life of one year, as such, the impugned Order is expiring its term today only.

4. Be that as it may, in view of the submission made by the learned counsel for the respondents and having regard to the facts and circumstances of the case, more particularly the fact that the impugned detention order expiring today, as such, this petition is rendered infructuous and the same shall stand disposed of accordingly.

5. The petitioner, if not required in any other case, is required to be released from custody forthwith.

6. Disposed of.
