02/ 18.09.2026: Heard, learned counsel for the petitioner and learned counsel for the State.

2. Petitioner has prayed to quash the letter dated 03.01.2026 vide Memo No.14 issued by the Superintendent of Police, Seraikella- Kharsawa, wherein he has issued a certificate in respect of the petitioner intimating that the petitioner is accused in Adityapur P.S. Case No.151 of 2013 and Adityapur P.S. Case No.127 of 2014.

3. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that petitioner has already been acquitted in both the cases.

4. After going through the records, I find that there is an acquittal order in Adityapur P.S. Case Nos.151 of 2013 by the competent Court in G.R. Case No.649 of 2013 vide judgment dated 10.03.2016, but there is no judgment of acquittal which correspondence to Adityapur P.S. Case Nos.127 of 2014 though there is one judgment of acquittal of Adityapur P.S. Case No.427 of 2014.

5. Considering the aforesaid fact, the Superintendent of Police, Seraikella- Kharsawa needs to review the Certificate, which he has already issued. It is also to be seen as to whether it is actually Adityapur P.S. Case Nos.127 of 2014 or Adityapur P.S. Case No.427 of 2014 or there is any other case.

6. Thus, I direct the petitioner to approach the Superintendent of Police, Seraikella- Kharsawa, who will pass an appropriate order in this case after hearing the petitioner, but the facts remain that the certificate on one aspect is erroneous as the petitioner has already been acquitted in Adityapur P.S. Case Nos.151 of 2013.

7. The petitioner will file an application, within two weeks and an appropriate order will be passed. If necessary, correction will be made in the character certificate or fresh certificate be issued within two weeks thereafter after verifying the records.

8. With the aforesaid observation, the instant writ petition stands disposed of.
