Item Nos. UNLISTED IN THE HIGH COURT OF MANIPUR AT IMPHAL MC(Bail Appln.) No. 13 of 2026 Shri Thounaojam Deben Singh …Applicant/s Vrs. The Officer In-charge, Narcotics & Affairs of Borders (NAB), Police Station, Manipur. …Respondent/s -B E F O R E- HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE AHANTHEM BIMOL SINGH 29.07.2026 Mr. N. Jotendro, learned senior counsel assisted by Syed Murtaza Ahamad, learned counsel appeared for the applicant and Mr. H. Samarjit, learned senior advocate and PP assisted by Mr. W. Niranjit, learned Dy. GA appeared for the respondents.

The present application has been filed with a prayer for extending the period of interim bail granted to the applicant for further period of 30(thirty) days to enable the applicant to complete his post-operative recovery and treatment.

The applicant was granted interim bail by this Court for a period of one month so as to enable him to avail his medical treatment as advised by the medical expert vide order dated 13- 05-2026 passed by this Court in Bail Application No. 8 of 2025. While granting the said interim bail, the present applicant was LAISHRA M DHAKESH ORI DEVI Digitally signed by LAISHRAM DHAKESHORI DEVI Date: 2026.07.30 11:45:44 +05'30'

directed to surrender before the Superintendent of Prison, Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa on expiry of one month period from the date of his release on bail.

After the said period of one month had expired, the present applicant approached this Court by filing an application registered as MC(Bail Appln.) No. 10 of 2026 (Ref. Bail Appln. No. 8 of 2025) seeking for extension of his interim bail for another period of one month on the ground that the medical surgery as advised by the doctor could not be carried out on time. The said application praying for extension of the interim bail was also allowed by this Court by an order dated 24-06-2026 passed in the said application and the period of interim bail was extended for another period of one month w.e.f. 15-06-2026. However, it was made clear that the applicant should surrender before the Superintendent of Prison, Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa, on completion of the said period of one month.

As the medical surgery could be carried out only on 11-07-2026, due to the physical weakness of the applicant, the petitioner was advised to take some rest and accordingly, the petitioner filed another application registered as MC(Bail Appln.) No. 12 of 2026 (Ref. MC(Bail Appln.) No. 10/2026; Bail Appln. No.

8 of 2025) with a prayer for extending the period of interim bail granted earlier for another period of one month.

The said application was again allowed by this Court by passing an order dated 15-07-2026, thereby granting another two weeks’ time w.e.f. 15-07-2026. While passing the said order, this Court made it very clear that no further application for extending the period of interim bail will be entertained and that the applicant was further directed to surrender himself before the Superintendent of Prison, Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa, on expiry of the two weeks’ period.

Having considered the factual position narrated herein above and the specific observation given by this Court that no further application for extending the period of interim bail will be entertained, this Court is not inclined to entertain the present application. However, in the interest of the present applicant, the Superintendent of Prison, Central Jail, Sajiwa, is hereby directed to provide adequate medical facilities to the applicant as and when the applicant needs such medical attention.

With the aforesaid directions, the present application stands closed. JUDGE Dhakeshori
