JUDGMENT AND ORDER (ORAL)

1. The petitioner who is stated to be a job card holder of Sobribari VEC, had approached this Court for removing all the discrepancies appearing in the list of job card holders under the Village Employment Council.

Thereafter, when the matter was seized by the Court, it was detected that even the name of an Advocate practicing in this Court had been shown as a job card holder. This Court, then by order dated 16-09-2025, had directed the State respondents to conduct a detailed inquiry and to file a report. Thereafter, the respondents had accordingly conducted an inquiry and a report dated 09-10-2025, in compliance thereof was filed before this Court.

2. Mr. M.L.Nongpiur, learned counsel for the petitioner, submits that with the re-verification that has been carried out and on the basis of the inquiry report, the petitioner’s grievances have since been redressed. He therefore, no longer wishes to press the writ petition but only prays that the election should be held at the earliest.

3. Mr. N.D.Chullai, learned AAG assisted by Ms. Z.E.Nongkynrih, learned GA, also concurs to the submissions, and submits that in the circumstances, the respondents will hold the elections at the earliest to Sobribari VEC.

4. Mr. R.H.Alice, learned counsel, who is also present in Court and whose name was irregularly shown in the list of job card holder prays that he may be permitted to take appropriate action on the basis of the inquiry report against the persons concerned.

5. On behalf of the respondent No. 7, the Ex-Secretary of the VEC, Mr. J.Shylla, learned counsel submits that in view of the inquiry report, he prays that he may be allowed to take recourse to appellate remedy as provided in the scheme.

6. On hearing the learned counsel for the parties, it appears that nothing remains for consideration in the matter before this Court, the same is closed and disposed of. However, it is directed that the respondents shall conduct the elections of the Sobribari VEC as expeditiously as possible.
