ORDER

22.06.2026

02.

1. The instant writ petition in the nature of habeas corpus is taken out for a direction to the opposite parties, more particularly, opposite party No.2 to take appropriate steps to rescue the daughter of the petitioner.

2. On receipt of written instruction from Inspector-in-Charge, Judum Police Station in the district of Cuttack, Mr. Sanjay Rath, learned Addl. Government Advocate submitted that the victim girl has been rescued on 19.06.2026 with the help of cyber cell and her statement under Section 180 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (in short, ‘BNSS’) has been recorded before the ASI of Badamba Police Station. In her statement recorded under Section 183 of BNSS by the learned J.M.F.C., Narasinghpur, she stated that she has attained age of majority and on her own volition she had gone along with the named person in the complaint. As she expressed her willingness to go with her parents till a settlement is arrived between the two families, the learned J.M.F.C., Narasinghpur directed her production before the Child Welfare Committee, Cuttack (in short, “CWC”). At present, the victim is staying in Mamata Short Stay Home, Bidanasi, Cuttack. The instructions revealed that she would be produced before the CWC today, (22.06.2026).

3. In view of the above development, since the victim girl has already been rescued and she would be produced before the CWC, Cuttack for further steps with respect to her safe stay, this Court does not feel it appropriate to keep the instant writ petition pending as it would sub-serve no fruitful purpose.

4. Accordingly, the WPCRL stands disposed of.
