The petitioners have approached this Court seeking protectionof their life and liberty on the premise that petitioner No.1 has pertormedmarriage with petitioner No.2 against the wishes of her parents and otherfamily members and the petitioners are apprehending threat to their life andliberty at their instance.

Notice of motion.

On asking of the Court, Mr. A.P.S. Gill, AAG, Punjab acceptsnotice on behalf of the respondent-State.

Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that arepresentation dated 29.12.2018 was made to the Senior Superintendent ofPolice, Police District Khanna, District Ludhiana (Annexure P-5) seeking!necessary protection but no action has been taken so far in the matter.

Heard.

Without examining the question of validity or otherwise ofmarriage of the petitioners, the present petition stands disposed of with adirection to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Police District Khanna,District Ludhiana to look into grievance of the petitioners expressed in therepresentation (Annexure P-5) and take appropriate action, if any, warrantedin the circumstances.

The Senior Superintendent of Police, Police District Khanna,District Ludhiana is further directed to arrange a meeting of respondentNo.4 with petitioner No.1] in case any such application is moved It is made clear that in case any FIR is registered againstpetitioner No.2, it will be open for the police authorities to take action, inaccordance with law.
