1. This Criminal Writ Petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, for directing the official respondents No. 2 and 3 to take action on the representation dated 21.07.2026 for protecting the life and personal liberty of the petitioners and also directing the private respondents not to interfere in the personal lives and liberty of the petitioners and both are in live-in relationship and further directing respondents No. 2 and 3 not to allow private respondents or anybody else to interfere with the life and liberty of the petitioners or to harass them in any manner against the wishes of the petitioners or to cause any detriment to the petitioners as well as the parents of petitioner no. 2 in any manner.
2. Petitioners, who are present in person submit that they have been in a live-in relationship. The private respondents have been extending threats of dire consequences to them as they are averse to their live in relationship. While drawing the attention of this Court to representation dated 21.07.2026 (Annexure P-3), they have submitted that the matter was reported to respondent No.2- Senior Superintendent of Police, UT, Chandigarh RENU RAWAT 2026.08.01 13.27 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document Chandigarh seeking police help but in vain. They would be satisfied if directions are issued to respondent No.2- Senior Superintendent of Police, UT, Chandigarh to look into the aforesaid representation and take appropriate steps at the earliest.
3. Notice of motion to respondents No.1 to 3 only.
4. At the asking of the Court, Mr. Sandeep Vashishth, APP, UT, Chandigarh accepts notice on behalf of respondents No. 1 to 3.
5. In view of the limited prayer made by petitioners and without commenting upon the status of live-in relationship of the petitioners, the present petition is disposed of with directions to respondent No.2- Senior Superintendent of Police, UT, Chandigarh to look into the representation dated 21.07.2026 (Annexure P-3) qua the alleged threat perception and take necessary steps, as may be required, in accordance with law, to ensure that the life and liberty of the petitioners is not jeopardized at the hands of the private respondent. However, this direction will have no effect on any civil or criminal action, which could be initiated in the matter in accordance with law.
6. It is made clear that there is no adjudication on merits and this is not a blanket order of protection from arrest in any FIR. It is further made clear that this order shall not come in the way if the interrogation of the petitioners is required in any cognizable case.
