The brief facts of the case are that on 15/05/2026 the complainant lodged a complaint alleging that M/s Mahek Industries, Mill, which entered into a Custom Milling Agreement with TGSCSCL for Kharif 2021-22 and 2022-23, had misappropriated Government paddy entrusted to it for milling and delivery of CMR. The proprietor, Sri Abdul Waheed acting as an agent in a fiduciary capacity, was found during a physical verification and panchanama conducted on 03.10.2025 by the Deputy Tahsildar (CS) in the presence of panchas to have a shortage of 38.76 Qtls of paddy for Kharif 2021-22, and a total shortage of 49,490.26 Qtls of Government paddy valued at approx. Rs.10,19,46,059.60/- as per MSP for both seasons. It is alleged that the entrusted paddy was dishonestly disposed of/misappropriated and was not available in the mill premises. Based on this, the police registered case against the petitioner for the alleged offences. The petitioner was remanded on 26.06.2026 and has been in judicial custody since then.
3. Heard Sri Venkat Reddy Kodumury, learned counsel for petitioner, and Sri D. Arun Kumar, learned Additional Public Prosecutor, appearing for respondent – State.
4. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is innocent of the offences as alleged He averred that petitioner was remanded to judicial custody on 26.06.2026 and is 62 years old man. While averring that material part of the investigation is already completed, he prayed to enlarge the petitioner on bail.
5. Learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for respondent No.1–State, opposed the submissions made by learned counsel for the petitioner and contended that there are serious allegations of misappropriation of huge public money.
