PRAYER Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the 1st and 2nd respondents to consider the petitioner’s representation dated 05.09.2026 to undertake purification of the Electoral Roll in Part 26, 27, 28 and 29 in the Courtallam Town Panchayat under the Tenkasi Constituency in respect to addition of new voters to the Electoral Roll and removal /
deletion of the names of unauthenticated voters in the Electoral Roll who have been added without appropriate verification and release the Final Electoral Roll for the Urban Local Body Elections to be conducted in early 2027.

ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) This writ petition has been filed seeking a direction to the 1st and 2nd respondents to consider petitioner’s representation dated 05.09.2026 to undertake purification of the Electoral Roll in Part 26, 27, 28 and 29 in the Courtallam Town Panchayat under the Tenkasi Constituency in respect of addition of new voters to the Electoral Roll and removal / deletion of the names of unauthenticated voters in the Electoral Roll.
2. Learned counsel appearing for respondents 3 and 4 has pointed out that a press release has already been issued regarding Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls with reference to 01.01.2027. He submitted that as per the schedule mentioned therein, the integrated draft electoral roll shall be published on 12.11.2026; then for filing claims and objections, the period from 12.11.2026 to 11.12.2026 is given, and thereafter, the claims and objections shall be decided and disposed by 28.12.2026. Therefore, this writ petition is premature.
In view of the above and recording the same, this writ petition is closed. However, we grant liberty to the petitioner to file objections/claims, if required, at the appropriate time after publishing of the electoral roll, as per the schedule.
