PRAYER: Writ Petition, filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this court to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing respondents 1 to 5 to grant necessary permission and provide necessary police protection to enable the village public to conduct the Punaravarthana Maha Kumbhabhishekam and Temple Festival of Arulmighu Sri Sakthi Mariamman Kovil, situated at South Street, Kachaikatti, Vadipatti Taluk, Madurai District scheduled between 23.10.2026 to 26.10.2026 under the direct supervision of the Revenue Authorities viz respondents 3 and 4 on the basis of the common representation dated 19.10.2026.

2. The case on hand pertains to conducting the kumbabhishekam of the petition mentioned temple. The events are to take place from 23.10.2026 and to conclude on 26.10.2026. Fortunately, consensus has been arrived at regarding the conducting of the event.
3. The sixth respondent had already approached the civil court and had obtained an interim order in his favour. He states that for the present, he will seek enforcement of the interim order with regard to his poojariship rights alone.
4. The kumbabhishekam will be held under the aegis of the villagers. Neither the sixth nor the seventh respondent will claim any first honour. We direct the jurisdictional police to provide bandobast. We direct the revenue authorities to oversee the conducting of the event. The outcome of this writ petition will not have any bearing on the rights of the private respondents herein.
