ORDER

The petitioner asserts that her grandmother was the only legally wedded wife of her grandfather, Muthukaruppan. After noticing that a Legal Heir Certificate recorded the names of the respondents 4 to 6 herein, the petitioner submitted a representation seeking cancellation thereof. The present Writ Petition relates thereto.

2. Accepting notice for respondents 1 to 3, Mr.R.Parthiban, learned Special Government Pleader, submits that the petitioner is admittedly not a Class-I legal heir of the deceased Muthukaruppan. Therefore, it is submitted that the petitioner does not have the locus standi to seek cancellation of the Legal Heir Certificate.

3. From the averments in the affidavit, it is clear that the petitioner asserts that she is the granddaughter of Muthukaruppan. The granddaughter of the deceased Hindu male is not classified as a Class-I

WP(MD) No. 29933 of 2026 legal heir under the Hindu Succession Act, 1956. Therefore, the petitioner is not entitled to Mandamus as requested for in this Writ Petition. By leaving it open to any Class-I legal heir to seek cancellation of the Legal Heir Certificate, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. 16-10-2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order Neutral Citation: Yes/No apd To
