The relief as such sought for in the writ petition to direct the respondents to consider the dispose the petitioner’s representation dated 02/11/2025 and consequently cancel the G.O.(Ms)No.879, Public Works (N) Department, dated 07/06/1993 for persistent and gross

violations of its conditions by the 18th Respondent Association within a stipulated time as prescribed by this Court.
2. Learned Government Advocate, based on instructions given by the Executive Engineer, Water Resources Department, Sarabanga Banin Division, Salem would submit that field inspection was conducted and it was found that water was being directly drawn from the Kaveri river by Lift Irrigation Society. Details of the violations have already been communicated to the higher authorities vide Letter dated13.08.2026 for taking necessary action.
3. In view of the technical and administrative aspects involved in the matter, authorities have considered it appropriate to constitute a committee to examine the issues in detail, assess the relevant facts and to recommend for appropriate remedial measures in accordance with the statutes and rules in force.
4. In view of the fact that actions have already been initiated to constitute a committee and to deal with the issues, this Court is inclined to direct the official respondents to constitute a committee and make assessment and initiate all appropriate actions in the manner known to law. The entire exercise is directed to be completed within a period of

eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
