ORDER
The present writ petition had been filed seeking for a mandamus to direct the respondents for issuance of patta in favour of the petitioner in respect of the property comprised in Plot No.24, Press Colony, Opposite to Dr. MGR Bus stand, Madurai covered in T.S Nos. 87 and 88 (Old Survey No.134/2A2).
2. Heard the learned counsel on either side.
3. It is the claim of the respondents that the land had been classified as a kulam in the revenue records and therefore, the claim of the petitioner could not be entertained.

It is to be noted that the petitioner was allotted the land, which was identified for allocation to the members of the Press Guild and under the recommendation of the said Madurai Reporters Press Guild Association, assignment order was also issued by the third respondent as early as on 25.10.1997. The subject lands, which were allotted to the Press Guild, were also subject matter of litigation before this Court and finally a Division Bench of this Court in W.A.(MD) No.543 of 2025, finding that the said water body was reclassified as natham poramboke by the revenue authorities as early as on 18.06.1997 and also finding that various offices of the Government had been functioning in the said area, had affirmed the order of the learned Single Judge, where directions are issued to effect proper mutation in the revenue records and issue patta in favour of the respondent therein. Following the said judgment, a learned Single Judge of this Court, in a similar circumstance, had directed issuance of patta to the petitioner therein in W.P.(MD) No.17880 of 2026. In that regard, this Court is of the view that when various other persons have been granted patta by orders of this Court, the petitioner would also be entitled for grant of patta.
5. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is allowed as a sequel, the third respondent is directed to grant patta in favour of the petitioner in respect
WP(MD) No. 24582 of 2026 of Plot No.24 with the boundaries as noted in the order of assignment dated 25.10.1997. Such exercise shall be carried out within a period of twelve weeks' from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
