Prayer : Writ Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents 1 to 6 to take immediate action to remove the illegal encroachment made by the respondents 7 and 8 in the land measuring an extent of 0.82.50 Ares comprised in Survey No 156/1 and 156/ 2 situated at Maymathur Village, Veppur Taluk, Cuddalore district which is classified as Lake Poramboke and to initiate appropriate proceedings for cancellation of patta No. 2615 illegally granted in favour of respondents 7 and 8 in respect of the Lake Poramboke land in S.No.156/2 by considering the petitioners representation dated 9.02.2026.

Order
(Order of the Court was made by S.M.Subramaniam J.) Learned Additional Government Pleader, based on the written instructions given by the Block Development Officer, Nallur Panchayat Union would submit that the encroachments in the water body have already been removed. Further, in the letter of the BDO it is stated that, they would protect the land free from encroachment. Regarding the claim of the petitioner for grant of

patta, the petitioner has to approach the competent authorities under the Tamil Nadu Patta Passbook Act, 1983.
