ORDER

The writ petition has been filed seeking a mandamus to the respondents to effect name correction in the death certificate of their mother by considering the petitioner's representation dated 12.06.2026.

2. The case of the petitioners' is that their mother named Kuriamma alias Lakshmi had died on 12.11.1984 in St.Antony Hospital, Madhavaram, due to illness. In the hospital records, by oversight, the petitioners' mother's name

WP No. 38175 of 2026

was registered as Lakshmi, which is her nick name, instead of Kuriamma, and that the same had been reflected in the Death Certificate No.MDV/236/1984/01/0 issued by the Government on 15.11.1984. However, no steps were taken by the petitioners initially to effect correction in the death certificate, owing to their ignorance. Thereafter, the petitioners had approached the Competent Authorities on several occasions for the said purpose, including their present representation dated 12.06.2026, however, all their efforts had ended in vain. Therefore, the petitioner, left with no other alternative, has approached this Court seeking a mandamus to the respondents.

3. Heard the learned counsel on either side.

4. This Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 12.06.2026 and dispose of the same, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above directions, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs. 06-10-2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order Neutral Citation: Yes/No DS
