ORDER

The writ petition has been filed seeking a mandamus to the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 06.08.2026 to correct the petitioner's name in the death certificate of her husband bearing No.D-2024:33- 21360-000711 dated 16.03.2024 as Asnath instead of Dhanamma.

2. The petitioner would state that she had married Mr.S.Anandhan on 16.06.1997 as per Christian rites and customs. She got baptised on 16.04.2000 and got converted to Christianity by changing her original name 'Dhanamma' as 'Asnath'. The petitioner had mutated her name as Asnath in all Government records. However, she was continued to be called by her relatives as Dhanamma. The petitioner would submit that her husband had died on 05.03.2024 due to electrocution. On 16.03.2024, she was issued with the Death Certificate of her husband bearing No.D-2024:33-21360-000711 in which, her name was mentioned as "Dhanamma" instead of Asnath. However, the petitioner had not noticed it at the time of issuance.

3. The petitioner would contend that due to the mistake in the death certificate of her husband, she was not able to receive the terminal benefits of her husband which she is entitled to. Therefore, she had submitted a representation to the respondents on 06.08.2026 to rectify the said error.

5. Considering the facts and circumstance of the case, a mandamus is issued to the second respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 06.08.2026, after calling upon the petitioner for enquiry and during enquiry, if the petitioner is able to prove that Dhanamma and Asnath are one and the same person, the second respondent shall effect necessary correction in the death certificate of her husband named S.Ananthan, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With the above directions, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
