ORDER

The Civil Revision Petition is filed challenging the docket order passed by the Court below in EA No.1 of 2026 in E.P.No.30 of 2026 in RLTOP.No.26 of 2022, dated 28.07.2026, dismissing the application filed by the petitioner seeking extension of time.

CRP.No.6224 of 2026

2. It is not in dispute that the respondent herein filed a petition seeking re-possession under the Tamil Nadu Regulation of Rights and Responsibilities of Landlords and Tenants Act, 2017 in R.L.T.O.P.No.26 of 2022 and the petitioner and respondent had settled the matter in Lok Adalat and the Lok Adalat Award was passed in Lok Adalat Case No.137 of 2024 in R.L.T.O.P.No.26 of 2022 on the file of the District Legal Services Authority, Thiruvallur, dated 14.09.2024.

3. As per the terms of Lok Adalat Award, the petitioner was given 20 months time from 14.09.2024 on condition that he must pay a sum of Rs.36,000/- towards monthly rent. It was also agreed that the tenancy will end by 14.05.2026 and the petitioner shall surrender the complete possession to the respondent and on such surrender, the respondent shall refund the security deposit of Rs.3,50,000/- to the petitioner. Now, the petitioner filed the instant application seeking extension of time mainly on the ground that he could not get suitable place to shift his residence. The petitioner and respondent agreed on the terms of compromise and based on the consent given by the petitioner, the Lok Adalat Award has been passed giving 20 months time to the petitioner to vacate the premises. The said period has expired on 14.05.2026. The petitioner is not entitled to seek modification of the Lok Adalat Award as the same was passed based on his consent.

CRP.No.6224 of 2026

4. Further, as per the award, the petitioner was given sufficient time nearly 20 months to shift the residence. Therefore, I do not find anything to interfere with the impugned order.

5. Accordingly, this Civil Revision Petition is dismissed. No costs. Consequently, the connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed. 05-10-2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order Neutral Citation: Yes/No dm To The District Munsif Court, Ambattur.
