Order

This writ petition is filed for the following relief: “To direct the 2nd respondent to provide single phase 2.0 KW electricity service connection to the petitioner’s residential house situated at Survey No.374, Door No.10A, ward No.1, Thiruvalluvar Street based on the petitioners application No.200095250826209 dated 01.08.2026 within a stipulated time.”

2. The subject residential property originally belonged to one Muthu. The land in question was classified as meikal poramboke. The petitioner purchased the aforesaid property from the said Muthu. In order to obtain electricity supply to her house, the petitioner submitted an online application dated 01.08.2026. Thereafter, the petitioner approached the 2nd respondent and they have orally informed the petitioner that electricity service connection would not be provided. Aggrieved thus the petitioner is before this Court.

3. Today, the learned Standing Counsel submits that the petitioner’s application has not been processed as she has not submitted ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the Tahsildar concerned as the land in question is meikal poramboke land. She would also submit that this information has not been communicated to the petitioner.
