ORDER

The petitioner, working as a Village Health Nurse in the Paramakudi Health Unit District, Ramanathapuram, has submitted a representation to the respondents seeking transfer on the ground of medical condition of her husband. However, the said representation has been rejected, by the impugned proceedings dated 31.08.2026. Aggrieved by the same, the petitioner has filed this writ petition.

2. Mr.M.Mahaboob Athiff, learned Special Government Pleader, takes notice for the respondents and submits that the petitioner has joined as a Health Nurse only in the month of February 2026 and she has not even completed one year in the present station. He further submits that every year, transfer counselling is conducted by the Health Department and the transfer counselling was over on 12.06.2026. Therefore, the petitioner’s request cannot be accepted. In the event, if the petitioner’s request is accepted, then, it would affect the administration in the Department.

3. This Court considered the arrival submissions made.

WP(MD) No. 28614 of 2026

4. Since the petitioner has joined the service only in the month of February 2026 and she has not opted in the transfer counselling, this Court is not inclined to interfere with the impugned order. However, considering the fact that the petitioner’s husband is undergoing treatment for a certain ailment and that her presence is also necessary to take care of him, the respondents shall consider the petitioner’s case sympathetically, in the event of any vacancy arising in or around Natham.

5. Accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed. 05-10-2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order Neutral Citation: Yes/No ogy To The Director, O/o. the Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, DMSSS Campus, Teynampet, Chennai - 600 006.
