ORDER
Challenging the Legal Heir Certificate dated 24.10.2025, the petitioner lodged an appeal on 19.08.2026 before the Revenue Divisional Officer. Seeking the expeditious disposal of the said appeal, the present petition has been filed.
2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the names of the parents of his deceased wife were erroneously included in the Legal Heir Certificate. He submits that an appeal was lodged in that regard.
3. Mr.S.Iniyan Karthik, learned Government Advocate, accepts notice for the first and second respondents.
4. Adverting to the Legal Heir Certificate, learned counsel points out that it is recorded therein that such certificate cannot be equated to a succession certificate issued by a Court and that it is only a relationship certificate.

5. Since an appeal has been lodged before the Revenue Divisional Officer as per the guidelines issued under letter dated 28.09.2022 by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, it is just and necessary that the petitioner's appeal be disposed of in accordance with law. Accordingly, without expressing any opinion on the merits, this writ petition is disposed of by directing the first respondent to consider and dispose of the petitioner's appeal within two
(2) months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after providing a reasonable opportunity to the petitioner and to the third and fourth respondents. No costs. 05-10-2026
