The petitioner applied for re-issuance of passport. Citing the pendency of an FIR in Crime No.255 of 2026, the petitioner was called upon to provide an explanation. After submitting an explanation on 17.08.2026, the petitioner has approached this Court for a direction to process the application.

2. Mr.V.Boominathan, learned Standing Counsel, accepts notice for the first respondent and Mr.R.Mohamed Riyaz, learned Government Advocate (Crl. side), accepts notice for the second respondent.

Therefore, the first respondent is directed to process the application within 3 months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. In the event that a case is registered in the meantime against the petitioner, it will be necessary for the petitioner to obtain clearance from the Criminal Court concerned.
