2. The Writ Petition has been filed in the nature of Writ of Mandamus, seeking a direction to the third respondent to grant permission to install the mic set from 29.09.2026 to 07.10.2026 and to provide police protection on 06.10.2026 for Mullaipaari Oorvalam in Mathiamman Temple and to give permission for the Aadal Padal programme on 07.10.2026 from 6.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. on the eve of Mathiamman temple puratasi pongal festival situated at S.Perumal Kovilpatty village, Thirumangalam Taluk, Madurai District, based on the petitioner’s representation dated 21.09.2026.

3. When the matter was taken up for consideration, in the previous two hearings, the learned counsel for the petitioner sought a direction order to consider the petitioner's representation with regard to the Aadal Padal programme also. Subsequently, the learned council realized that the Aadal Padal programme would not be permissible. Hence, the petitioner has now filed an affidavit stating that he would restrict his request to permission to install the mic set from 29.09.2026 to 07.10.2026 and to provide police protection on 06.10.2026 for the Mullaipaari Oorvalam. He further submitted that, they would not conduct the Aadal

WP Crl.(MD) No. 5432 of 2026 Padal program as scheduled on 07.10.2026 from 6.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. and therefore, no permission is required for the said Aadal Padal programme.

4. Recording the said affidavit, it was put to the notice of the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side). He submitted that, since there is no request at present for conducting the Aadal Padal programme, permission may be granted for setting up a mic set and conducting the Mullaipaari Oorvalam permission. He further submitted that police protection would be provided for Mullaipaari Oorvalam, free of cost.

5. In view of the above submissions, this court directs the respondent police to consider the petitioner’s representation for granting permission to set up a mic set for the said festival from 29.09.2026 to 07.10.2026 and also to provide police protection for the Mullaipaari Oorvalam on 06.10.2026

6. With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. 01-10-2026 Index: Yes/No Internet:Yes/No NCC:Yes/No psa
