ORDER

The present writ petition has been filed to consider the petitioner's representation. The consideration jurisdiction would only be exercised if, ultimately, the authorities are in a position to legally consider the same.

2. In the present case, the petitioner seeks compassionate appointment on the ground of the death of his father on 22.07.2010. It is the submission of the petitioner that, on the date of his father's death, he was 11 years old. As per the guidelines governing compassionate appointment, an application is required to be made within the prescribed period, with the object of addressing the immediate financial hardship and the circumstances of the dependent family members.

3. In the present case, the petitioner has sought compassionate appointment after a lapse of more than a decade from the date of his father's death. Therefore, as rightly contended by the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent-Bank, the claim of the petitioner is contrary to the guidelines governing compassionate appointment.

WP No. 33600 of 2022

4. It is well settled that compassionate appointment is an exception to the general rule of appointment to public employment and, therefore, the same has to be considered strictly in accordance with the applicable rules and guidelines.

5. In view of the above factual position, the claim made by the petitioner is palpably contrary to the applicable guidelines governing compassionate appointment. Therefore, no grounds are made out for issuing a Writ of Mandamus.

6. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is dismissed. No costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition , if any is also closed. 24-09-2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order Neutral Citation: Yes/No JRS
