UPON hearing the counsel the Court made

the following

O R D E R

Leave granted. The appellant stands convicted by the Trial Court for the offence punishable under Section 20(b)(ii)(C) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and has been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 20 years with fine. On appeal, the High Court was pleased to affirm the conviction and sentence awarded to the appellant. We have heard the learned Senior Counsel appearing for the appellant, and the learned counsel appearing for the respondent-State. We have been informed that the appellant has already undergone imprisonment for a period of five years and three months.

Considering the above, and the issues involved, we are inclined to suspend the sentence of the appellant. Accordingly, the sentence of the appellant stands suspended, and he is granted bail on terms and conditions to the satisfaction of the concerned Trial Court. List the appeal in due course.
