ORDER
This Petition has been filed to direct the 2nd respondent police to conclude enquiry upon the petitioner's complaint dated 27.12.2024 and to take necessary action based on the petitioners representation dated 13.02.2025 within a time frame fixed by this Court.
2. As per the earlier order of this Court dated 15.09.2026, the second respondent, the Inspector of Police, Austinpatti Police Station, Madurai District, viz., Mrs.D. Sivasakthi, appeared before this Court and filed a status report.
3. As per the status report, the facts of the case have been narrated and the FIR was registered only on 20.09.2026 in Crime No. 251 of 2026 under Sections 406 and 420 IPC.
4. The petitioner made a complaint dated 27.12.2024 to the second respondent. However, no action was taken followed that the petitioner also made a representation dated 13.02.2025 to the second respondent, requesting him to look into the complaint submitted by the petitioner. Even then, no action was taken.
5. Since there was no action from the Police Department, the present petition has been filed seeking appropriate directions.

6. Considering the facts of the case, wherein the police had kept the complaint of the petitioner pending for more than 1 ½ years without taking any action, this Court directed the second respondent to be present and explain the delay on the part of the police authorities.
7. Pursuant to the order of this Court, the Inspector of Police appeared before this Court today (i.e.22.09.2026). When this Court enquired with her in person, in the presence of the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side), she submitted that she had joined the said police station only on 15.06.2026. She further stated that, upon assuming charge as the Station House Officer, she called for the details of all pending cases from the subordinate police officials and police personnel attached to the police station. However, the petitioner's complaint and the relevant particulars were not placed before her, whereas the details of other cases were furnished. Only after the filing of the present petition and pursuant to the notice issued by this Court did she come to know that the petitioner had submitted a complaint dated 27.12.2024. Thereafter, upon considering the petitioner's complaint, she registered the FIR as stated above. Further, she submitted that the complaint dated 27.12.2024 had not been brought to her notice by the police officials and personnel attached to

the station after she assumed charge. She also stated that, despite the complaint having been received from the petitioner, the concerned police officials and personnel had failed to place the same before her.
8. In view of the above, the second respondent is directed to proceed against the concerned police officials and personnel for the lapses committed by them in not placing the petitioner's complaint dated 27.12.2024 before the competent authority, and to take appropriate action against them. A report regarding the action taken shall be submitted before this Court within a period of two months from today.
9. Since the petitioner's complaint has now been acted upon and an FIR has been registered, the second respondent is directed to proceed further in accordance with law and conduct the investigation in a fair and proper manner. The final report shall be filed before the competent Court within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
10. With the above directions, this petition is disposed of. List the matter after two months for reporting compliance with the directions issued to the second respondent. 22-09-2026 LS
