ORDER

This petition has been filed for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the 1st respondent to invoke his power under police standing order 748 so as to remove the petitioner's name from the history sheet being maintained at the 3rd respondent police Station vide H.S.No.153/2026, on the basis of the petitioner's representation, dated 05.09.2026, as expeditiously as possible within the time stipulation as prescribed by this Court.

2. Mr.D.Rajaboopathy, learned Government Advocate, (Crl. Side) takes notice for the respondents. Heard the counsel on either side and perused the records.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that it would suffice if a direction is issued to the respondents to dispose of the petitioner's representation within a time frame.

4. The learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) submitted that the petitioner is involved in nine (9) previous cases. Out of the nine cases, six cases have been disposed of by the trial Court, two cases are currently under investigation, and in one case, the final report has been filed before the concerned Court but is yet to be taken on file.

5. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that out of the nine cases, six cases ended in acquittal. He further submitted that although the petitioner submitted a representation on 25.08.2026 seeking removal of his name from the History Sheet, it remains pending without any progress. Hence, he prayed for suitable directions to the respondents.

6. Considering the limited scope of the prayer, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 25.08.2026 on its own merits and in accordance with law, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, and pass appropriate orders within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

7. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. 22.09.2026 TM
