ORDER

Mr. C.Susikumar, learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side), takes notice for the respondents.

2. Heard both sides.

3. This Writ Petition has been filed in the nature of a Certiorarified Mandamus, challenging the rejection order dated 25.08.2026 passed by the second respondent, whereby the permission sought by the petitioner to conduct a Kabaddi tournament on 25.09.2026 from 7.00 p.m. to 26.09.2026 at 7.00 a.m. was rejected on the sole ground that a Kabaddi tournament cannot be permitted during night hours.

4. On the last hearing date (i.e. on 08.09.2026), when the matter was taken up, this Court enquired as to whether there was any possibility of changing the time and conducting the tournament during the day time. Some accommodation was sought, enabling the respondents to obtain further instructions from the concerned authorities.

5. When the matter was taken up today, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that, instead of the night hours originally sought for, the petitioner now proposes to conduct the said

( Uploaded on: 18/09/2026 11:17:51 am )

xv) The respondents are directed to afford necessary police protection for the conduct of the kabadi tournament on payment of necessary charges in terms of G.O(Ms)No.139, Home (Pol-VIII) Department, dated 04.03.2019.” The petitioner is also directed to ensure that the conditions are strictly complied with and also to ensure that no law and order problem is created in the course of conducting the tournament.

8. If there is any deviation from the above conditions by the petitioner, the police are at liberty to proceed to take necessary legal action against the organisers.
