ORDER

The petitioner, who is the wife of the detenu, Karthikeyan, has filed the present petition stating that her husband is running a laundry business in the name and style of “Classic Power Laundry” and that he has certain criminal antecedents.
2. It is the case of the petitioner that her husband had been appearing before the trial courts in connection with certain criminal cases. On 26.10.2026, at about 11.00 a.m., he was allegedly abducted by some unknown persons near the Kumbakonam Court Complex and did not return thereafter. Despite her earnest efforts to trace him, the petitioner was unable to ascertain his whereabouts.
3. The petitioner would further submit that she approached the fourth respondent police and submitted a representation stating that her husband had been missing since 26.10.2026. However, according to the
HCP(MD) No. 1401 of 2026 petitioner, the police had feigned ignorance and failed to take appropriate action on her complaint. Apprehending a threat to the life and safety of her husband, the petitioner has filed the present petition.

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor, on instructions, would submit that the petitioner's husband, namely, Karthikeyan, is an accused, along with three others, in Crime No.646 of 2026, registered on 26.10.2026 for the offences punishable under Sections 296(b) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and Section 27(2) of the Arms Act, 1959. He would further submit that Karthikeyan was arrested in connection with the said case on 26.10.2026 at about 1.30 p.m. and was produced before the learned Judicial Magistrate No.I, Kumbakonam, on 27.10.2026 at about 9.30 a.m.

In view of the submission made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor that the detenu has been arrested in connection with the aforesaid criminal case and produced before the jurisdictional Magistrate, no further orders are required in the present petition.
