ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent to include the petitioner’s name, i.e., M.Raichal Christina, under the Christian Minority Category in the Management Quota for the upcoming IV Round (Stray Round) of medical counselling, scheduled to be held next week, based on her representation dated 18.09.2026.

2. Heard Mr.P.Ramathan, learned counsel for the petitioner, and Mr.C.Vigneswaran, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent.

3. The brief facts of the case are that the petitioner appeared for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026 and applied for medical counselling under both the Management Quota and the Government Quota before the respondent. So far, three rounds of counselling have been completed. The grievance of the petitioner is that, due to inadvertence, she selected “No” against the question under Clause 12(c) of the application form, which reads, “Apply under Religious Minority Category?”, while applying under the Management Quota. However, as she had specifically mentioned that she belongs to the Christian religion, she has approached this Court seeking inclusion of her name under the Christian Minority Category in the

Management Quota for the upcoming IV Round (Stray Round) of counselling.

4. The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent would submit that any request for a change in category ought to have been made on or before 12.08.2026. In fact, there was a window from 29.06.2026 to 12.08.2026 to enable candidates to make changes to their application forms, including their category status.

5. Since sufficient time had already been provided to make any necessary changes to the category status on or before 12.08.2026, the question of issuing a direction to the respondent to change the petitioner’s category at this stage does not arise.

6. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is dismissed. 16.10.2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order Neutral Citation: Yes/No vv2 To The Secretary, Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education and Research, Kilpauk, Chennai - 600 010.
