ORDER

This petition has been filed for issuance of Writ of Mandamus directing the Respondents to grant permission and provide necessary police protection to conduct the Arulmigu Santhana Mariamman Temple to the third anniversary rituals from 12.09.2026 to 15.09.2026, aadalum paadalum on 14.09.2026, from 07.00 p.m., to 12.00 midnight, and the Valli Thirumanam drama on the following day, 15.09.2026 from 09.00 p.m., to 07.00 a.m., in connection with Arulmigu Santhanamariamman temple situated at E-Perumal Patti Village, Ezhumalai Post, Peraiyur Taluk, Madurai District and pass orders on the basis of the petitioner's representation dated 25.08.2026.

2. Mr.C.Susikumar, learned Government Advocate, (Crl. Side) takes notice for the respondents. Heard the counsel on either side and perused the records.

3. The petitioner has filed the present petition seeking consideration of his representation dated 25.08.2026, seeking permission to conduct the Varushabishekam Festival from 12.09.2026 to 15.09.2026.

4. When the matter was taken up for hearing today, the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents submitted that the request of the petitioner has already been rejected on the ground that a criminal case is pending between the rival groups.

5. The learned counsel appearing for the respondent Police further submitted that, in view of the pending criminal case and the apprehension of a law-and-order problem, permission to conduct the festival cannot be granted at this stage. However, if the petitioner comes forward with a request for conducting the festival on a future date, the same would be considered by the authorities, based on the facts and circumstances prevailing at that time and in accordance with law.

6. In view of the fact that the petitioner's request for conducting the festival from 09.12.2026 to 15.12.2026 has already been rejected, the prayer sought for in the present petition has become infructuous.

7. However, in view of the submission made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, liberty is granted to the petitioner to challenge the rejection order passed by the respondent dated 09.09.2026, in the manner known to law.

8. With the above liberty, this petition is closed. 11.09.2026 TM To
