The present petition has been filed by the petitioner under)Section 438 Cr.P.C. praying for grant of pre-arrest bail in FIR No.144 dated08.12.2022 under Section 489-A, 489-C, 489-D, 420 and 120-B IPC, 1914registered at Police Station Cantt. Jalandhar, District Jalandhar.

The allegations are that the petitioner purchased the fake)

currency notes of Rs.20 lacs by paying Rs.5 lacs original currency and the|same was disclosed by Ram Singh and Pawandeep Singh from whom|another fake currency of Rs.20 lacs was recovered.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner|

was not named, in the FIR, however on the specific query put to the State|Counsel, he, on instructions from ASI Jaswinder Singh, submits that the|telephone number mentioned belongs to the petitioner.

The case is at the stage of investigation and it is a Serious case|

of fake currency being brought into the economy of the country. The|

amount may be less but it is a grave and serious economic offence.

No ground is made out for grant of anticipatory bail to the)petitioner.

The present petition is dismissed.
