2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner/husband filed O.P. No. 36 of 2022 before the Family Court, Madurai, seeking dissolution of marriage between himself and the respondent/wife on the ground of cruelty. He further submits that the respondent, who is a government employee serving as a police official, has been delaying the proceedings by failing to appear for the enquiry and is not cooperating with the expeditious disposal of the divorce petition. Consequently, the matter remains pending without any substantial progress. Hence, the learned counsel prays that this Court may issue a direction to the Family Court, Madurai, to dispose of O.P.No.36 of 2022 expeditiously.

3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and perused the materials available on record.

4. On perusal of the records, it is seen that the divorce petition has been pending since 2022, and the ‘B’ Diary further reveals that the matter is presently pending for enquiry. Considering the fact that the petition was instituted in the year 2022 and has remained pending for a considerable period, this Court is of the view that the proceedings should be expedited.
