ORDER
This writ petition have been filed by the petitioners seeking a direction to the first respondent to consider the petitioners’ online application in Application No.2026/0123/08/006217, dated 17.09.2026, and to survey the land comprised in New Survey No.868/3 and Old Survey No.740/2, measuring an extent of 0.93.0 hectares, situated at Alamarathupatti Village, Mettur Taluk, Salem District.
2. The case of the petitioners is that the subject property is their ancestral agricultural land and that they have been carrying on agricultural activities therein. According to them, the revenue records, including the A-Register, originally stood in the name of their grandmother, Tmt. Periyammal, who was in continuous possession and enjoyment of the property. The petitioners further submit that their grandmother executed a settlement deed dated 15.09.2026 in their favour, which was registered as Document No.3280 of 2026 on the file of the Sub-Registrar, Mettur. Pursuant to the said settlement deed, patta was also transferred in their names under Patta No.8321. They state that certain unidentified persons have been trespassing upon the property, allowing cattle to graze and consuming liquor therein. As both petitioners are attending TNPSC coaching classes in Erode District, they are unable to personally safeguard the property. In the above circumstances, the petitioners submitted an online application dated 17.09.2026 to the first respondent, seeking completion of the

survey process to enable them to fence the property. Since no action has been taken on the said application, they have approached this Court seeking appropriate relief.
3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioners, the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents and perused the materials available on record.
4. Considering the nature of the relief sought for and the fact that the petitioners have submitted an application seeking survey of the subject property, this Court is of the view that the said application requires consideration by the competent authority in accordance with law.
5. Accordingly, the first respondent is directed to consider the petitioners’ online application in Application No.2026/0123/08/006217, dated 17.09.2026, and take appropriate action to conduct the survey of the subject property, namely, New Survey No.868/3 and Old Survey No.740/2, situated at Alamarathupatti Village, Mettur Taluk, Salem District, after issuing notice to the petitioners and all other persons concerned, if any, and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
