ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by G.Arul Murugan, J.) This writ petition seeks for consideration of the representation dated 01.03.2026 and for issuance of notification as per Section 3(2)
(d) of the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies Act.
2. Learned counsel for the petitioner contended that Kanakkam Palayam Panchayat has to be merged with Udumalpet Municipality. However, in spite of several representations and also approaching this Court earlier, the grievance has not been redressed.
3. Responding to the contentions, learned Government Pleader submitted that already census is underway and as per the Government order issued by the Central Government, the State Government cannot alter the boundaries of any of the local bodies and only after, the entire process is over, the claim of the petitioner could be considered. He also pointed out to this Court that the claim of the petitioner has not been rejected and the proposal is only under consideration, which would be taken up after the census is over and decided on its own merits.
WP No.42571 of 2026
4. Recording the above, the writ petition stands closed. There will be no order as to costs. (SUSHRUT ARVIND DHARMADHIKARI, CJ.)
