ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by P.Velmurugan J.) The present Public Interest Litigation has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to bifurcate the 8th respondent, namely,

WP(MD) No. 30191 of 2026 Narippaiyur Village Panchayat, into four separate Village Panchayats and to consider the petitioner’s representation dated 18.09.2026 in this regard.

2. The bifurcation or reorganisation of a Village Panchayat is a policy decision of the Government, subject to the relevant laws and administrative requirements. An increase in population alone does not give the petitioner an enforceable right to seek bifurcation through a Public Interest Litigation.

3. In such circumstances, the petitioner is at liberty to approach the competent authority and pursue the appropriate remedy in accordance with law.

4. Accordingly, the writ petition is dismissed. There shall be no order as to costs. (P.V.,J.) (K.K.R.K.,J.) 26-10-2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order Neutral Citation: Yes/No AM
