ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by S.M.Subramaniam J.) With reference to the relief sought in the present Writ Petition, the Tahsildar, Uthiramerur Taluk, has furnished written instructions to the learned Government Pleader vide letter dated 15.10.2026. The Tahsildar has stated that, as per the revenue records, the subject portion of the land is classified as “Road” and that encroachments have been identified therein. However, since one of the encroachments is situated on Highways Department property, the necessary action is required to be initiated by the Highways Department. Thus, the Tahsildar request four weeks time to complete the enforcement action.
2. In view of the above submission, the official respondents are directed to initiate appropriate enforcement action for the removal of encroachments in Government poramboke lands and Highways Department properties through the respective competent authorities, by following the procedures prescribed under the relevant statutes and rules in force. The entire exercise shall be completed within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
