When the matter was taken up, the learned Standing Counsel for the Lakshadweep Administration submitted that amount has been quantified and needs some more time for payment of arrears. Our attention has been drawn to the order dated 30.09.2026, wherein it was recorded that the respondents sought three weeks' time to remit the entire amount. Though we are not fully satisfied with the slow pace of compliance, we are inclined to grant one more opportunity, making it clear that, if the order is not fully complied with and the arrears not remitted, the respondents will be directed to appear in person and explain.
